What Are E.max Veneers?

Ivoclar E.max (lithium disilicate) is the gold standard porcelain for cosmetic dentistry. It's a glass-ceramic material that transmits light in the same way as natural tooth enamel — making it virtually indistinguishable from real teeth. Good Candidates for E.max Veneers

E.max veneers work best for patients who:

• Have healthy teeth with no active decay or untreated gum disease
• Want to correct discolouration that whitening hasn't resolved (tetracycline staining, fluorosis)
• Have chipped, cracked or slightly worn teeth
• Have minor spacing or alignment issues they want to correct without braces
• Have teeth that are slightly too small or uneven in length
• Are committed to good oral hygiene and regular check-ups
• Do not have a severe grinding habit (or are willing to wear a night guard)

Who May Not Be Suitable

E.max veneers may not be recommended if you:

• Have severe tooth decay or active gum disease (this must be treated first)
• Grind heavily at night without commitment to wearing a guard
• Bite your nails or regularly bite hard objects
• Have very little natural enamel remaining
• Are looking for a completely reversible option (veneers require minimal prep, but are not fully reversible — consider composite bonding instead)

E.max vs Zirconia: Which Is Better?

E.max is the superior aesthetic choice for front teeth — its translucency mimics natural enamel more closely than zirconia. However, full zirconia crowns are stronger and better suited to back teeth or patients with a heavy bite. For the "Hollywood smile" look on the front 6–10 teeth, E.max is almost always the preferred material.
